A Love Letter to the Bride Who's Done Looking - From a Wanaka Makeup Artist
PC: Anneke Lisa Photography
You've been doing the research. You've opened fourteen tabs. You've looked at portfolio after portfolio of beautiful women with beautiful makeup and felt...well, like nothing quite clicks.
Not because the work isn't good (it is), but something about it feels slightly off. Maybe it's too much. Maybe it’s not enough. Or maybe it’s too much like someone else.
You've been quietly carrying this anxiety — that on your wedding day, the face looking back at you in the mirror won't quite feel like yours.
I want you to know: I see you. You're exactly who I'm here for.
The Bride Who Lands Here and Stays
My brides aren't looking for a transformation. They're looking for elevation: the best version of what's already there, brought forward with skill and intention.
Sometimes this means barely-there skin and a soft lip. Other times it means full coverage, sculpted and luminous.
Regardless, the point is the same: the look should feel like you. Your style, your vision - elevated, not overdone.
These are brides who bring the same considered taste to their makeup as they do to their dress, their venue, their flowers, the way they write the menu.
Bride’s who’ve thought about all of it and want to look in the mirror on the wedding morning and feel that quiet, certain thing: "Yes. That's exactly right. This is me, just the best version."
If that's you, keep reading.

What It's Like to Have Your Makeup Done by Me
Your wedding morning is moving around you: the texts, the timeline, the flowers arriving slightly late, your friends excited and bubbly, your mum crying and it's not even 9am.
Then you sit down in my chair. And everything slows down.
I'll greet you with a smile and ask how you're feeling — actually feeling. If there are nerves, I'll invite you to take a breath and let me take care of you for the next hour.
We start with skincare, usually a gentle facial massage to work everything in. Brides tell me all the time how unexpectedly relaxing it is, and how that hour in the chair is the moment they finally became present. The moment they realised: I'm the bride. This is my day.
That's not an accident. It's the whole point.
Your look will be built around your features, your skin, your wedding style. Not a Pinterest board. Not a template. Every decision made with one question: what makes you look like the best version of yourself?
Some brides want to understand every product I'm using. Others just want to close their eyes and be looked after. Either way, I'll follow your lead.

What You'll Feel When You Leave
You'll leave radiant. That part is the makeup — the skin-forward, considered, you result that photographs beautifully and lasts from the first snap to the last dance.
But there's something else that happens when a woman truly loves how she looks.
Nerves quiet. Joy is released. She stops thinking about her face and starts living in her day. She carries herself differently and is present in every moment.
She's completely, utterly ready.
That's what I'm here to create. Not just a look, but that moment.
If This Feels Like You
Then I'd love to hear from you.
My calendar fills through brides who find me while scrolling on Instagram, through midnight Google searches, through friends who send their sisters and besties my way. However you arrive here, you're welcome.
