Getting Married in Wanaka? Here’s What to Expect (From Your Local Makeup Artist’s View)

If you're planning your wedding in Wanaka, first of all — amazing choice!

With its snow-capped peaks, sparkling lake views, and intimate feel, Wanaka is a dream destination for couples who want natural beauty with a touch of laid-back luxury.

As a local bridal makeup artist here in Wanaka, I work with brides from all over New Zealand (and beyond!) to help them feel confident, gorgeous, and camera-ready on one of the most memorable days of their lives.

Whether you’re getting married at Rippon, The Lookout Lodge, Edgewater, The Venue, or a secluded spot overlooking Lake Wanaka, here’s what you can expect when working with a local makeup artist like me.

1. Local Knowledge = Less Stress

Planning from a distance can be overwhelming, especially when you’re trying to build a dream vendor team from afar.

The good news? I live and work right here in Wanaka, which means I know the venues, the weather patterns (yes, they matter), and the best local spots for prep.

I also have trusted working relationships with hairstylists, photographers, planners, and venue teams, so we’re not strangers on the day.

I often collaborate with wedding photographers like Anneke Lisa Photography, Brooke Hardwood Photography, and Splendor Visuals, who capture the day’s magic beautifully.

Plus, for content creation, Social Saint helps showcase your Wanaka wedding with fresh, authentic storytelling. This network means your wedding morning runs smoothly with everyone in sync.

2. Makeup That Matches the Wanaka Vibe

Wanaka weddings are often intimate, nature-filled, and effortlessly beautiful, and I believe the makeup should reflect that.

My signature style is soft glam: radiant skin, blended lines, neutral tones, and enhanced natural features  for timeless bridal beauty that looks just as good in person as it does in your photos.

You’ll look like you, just the elevated version, with flawless, long-wearing makeup that holds up through happy tears, hugs, and mountain breezes.

3. A Calm, Reliable Presence on the Day

When I arrive on your wedding morning, I bring more than a fully stocked kit. I bring a calming energy, a detailed timeline, and the experience to keep things flowing — even when nerves kick in or timelines shift.

You’ve done the planning. My job is to make sure your bridal glam experience feels peaceful, personal, and beautiful. I’ll also coordinate with your hairstylist as needed so that the glam team works together seamlessly.

If you’re working with elopement specialists like Daisy and Moss, or celebrants such as Siobain the Celebrant, Married by Friends, or Wedding by Fi, I’m happy to sync with them too, ensuring the day’s flow is effortless from start to finish.

4. Travel? Handled.

One less thing to Google: yes, I come to you.

Whether you’re getting ready at a lakeside Airbnb, luxury lodge, or in a tucked-away mountaintop cabin, I’ll bring everything needed for your makeup — including a chair, lighting (if needed), and a professionally stocked, fully sanitized makeup kit.

Just show up with a freshly cleansed face and a button-up shirt or robe. I’ve got the rest.

Why Hiring Local Matters

Choosing local vendors isn’t just convenient—it creates a more connected, seamless experience.

We know the ins and outs of the area, we’ve likely worked together before, and we care deeply about making sure your Wanaka wedding is everything you hoped for (and more).

Plus, we’ll be here long after the day itself — excited for you, oohing and awwing over your photos, and staying in touch like old friends.
